Link11 Cloud Security Platform available in Asia Pacific region

Link11 has finished setting up its Cloud Security Platform operation in Singapore. The expanded platform supports the IT security provider on its global expansion course.

The German DDoS protection provider has expanded its global Cloud Security Platform in the Asia Pacific Region (APAC). Companies from the Asia Pacific region can now access the Link11 core services, such as DDoS Protection, Content Delivery Network, Web Application Firewall, and SecureDNS from the Singapore site. By establishing its presence in Singapore, Link11 is preparing for its internationalization in the APAC region.

Marc Wilczek, Link11 Managing Director: “By expanding the Cloud Security Platform at our Singapore location we are catering to a growing DDoS protection market in the Asian region. The patent pending Link11 DDoS Protection provides important core services of the Link11 Cloud Security Platform in addition to our high-performance Content Delivery Network (CDN) and the cloud-based Web Application Firewall. This global 360-degrees security platform with local availability provides businesses with the certainty that the availability of their digital services and business processes will be maintained at a high level. With the implementation of this combined approach in the APAC region, we are strengthening our local market presence and customer proximity.”

Increasing global network capacity and filtering capacity

The Singapore site, which has already been connected to the network, complements Link11’s existing global Cloud Security Platform. This currently comprises nine locations, distributed strategically across the world. At these locations, the network traffic is analyzed with a self-learning algorithm and purged of unwanted traffic such as DDoS requests.

The company chose Singapore as its infrastructure base because of its proximity to the Internet backbone in Asia. Countries from the Asian region also regularly feature among the top 10 source countries of cyber attacks, such as DDoS attacks. According to the current Link11 DDoS Report, DDoS attacks can frequently be traced back to China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand. The presence of the Link11 Cloud Security Platform in the APAC region allows the DDoS traffic to be filtered in the closest possible proximity to the source countries.

Onur Cengiz, Head of the Link11 Security Operation Center (LSOC): “With Singapore as an additional infrastructure base, the core services of the Link11 Cloud Security Platform are now even more readily accessible at a regional level. At the same time, we have enhanced the filtering capacity of our global network, which is currently over 3.5 Tbps.”

That is sufficient to safely mitigate even large-scale DDoS attacks, such as those involving memcached reflection. In the first quarter of 2018, the LSOC thwarted 12 attacks with an attack volume of more than 100 Gbps. The peak attack bandwidth was 212 Gbps.
